NEWS
Jan 22 2004 passed without incident, which is good. Mythix, the main
server, 'celebrated' a year of uninterrupted uptime. Machine status as
ever at http://paulm.com/hosting/status/

MAILMAN - MAILING LIST SOFTWARE FIXES
With the help of diligent detective Michela and several hours of
slamming my head between two otherwise perfectly good bricks a number
of little annoyances with the mailing list software mailman
(http://www.list.org/) I believe are all now fixed. In particular the
archive, confirmation, public/private links now work reliably and
point to people's actual domain rather than, typically,
realprogrammers.com
MAILMAN OPTIONS EXPLAINED
Some of the privacy & archival options on your admin pages might not
be obvious (i.e. they weren't to me :-). Here are some pointers:
Archiving Options
Archive messages?
This controls whether your mailing list is archived to the Web.
Is archive file source for public or private archival?
If set to private members will need to log in to see the
archives. Otherwise it'll be online and accessible including to
search engines.
Privacy Options
Advertise this list?
If you want the list to be 'hidden' set this option to 'no'. Then it
won't appear on http://[ your domain ]/mm/listinfo It is still
accessible if someone types or guesses the URL. At that point
further access is controlled by the public or private setting above.
A handy guide aimed at List Administrators can be found at,
